Getting here

You can fly, train, drive, walk, motorcycle, hang-glide (probably) or, in winter mainly, ski to our place. As far as we’re aware, there is no direct route by boat as the Muckle Burn is too small even for a canoe.

Flying

Inverness Airport (INV) is the nearest flight terminal to the house, about a 25 minute drive away. Airlines which fly to INV are EasyJet, Loganair, KLM and British Airways. If you need to find out the most effective way to get to Inverness from your location, you might want to try SkyScanner.

Unless your plan is to sit around the house, read, enjoy music, take local walks, and/or just sit and think, you’ll probably want to rent a car as our location is 5 miles out of town, and there is no bus route or pavement (sidewalk). The nearest bus stop is about 3 miles away. Remote? A little. We have plenty of room to park on site.

Car Hire

A variety of companies rent cars direct from Inverness Airport.

Train

Getting the train is entirely feasible to either Nairn or Inverness stations. However, there is no car hire facility at either location. You may want to contact the car hire companies and see if any of them will collect you from either station.

Driving or Riding

We have space to park on site, and the garage can be configured to store a couple of motorcycles if that’s your preference.

You’ll be aiming for postcode IV12 5QJ, but you can also use the What3Words location of ///punctual.urgent.passage to navigate to us. The postcode gets you nearby but the What3Words location is the end of our driveway.

Driving will provide you with the most amazing scenery, but remember to keep your eyes on the road!

Hang Gliding

Probably not advised unless you’re fairly close, and you’ll likely want to land on a field or the road.

Skiing

You’ll want to wait for a good covering of snow. Even then, it’s probably more sensible to rock up in some kind of 4×4.
